I believe that incorporating learning through play into our daily practice has changed me professionally and personally. My children have become more engaged with one another. Not only their relationships, my relationship with them became stronger! I watch them develop a sense of self and confidence and they genuinely appreciate one another. Learning through play and weaving it into our curriculum each day has brought the joy and fun in teaching and that’s why I went into early childhood education in the first place.

- Michelle, Cornerstone teacher since 2010

Coming to work at Cornerstone was like coming home. The partnership between coworkers, families and children was, and continues to be, something I did not experience before. My own child has gone through our program, infancy - prekindergarten, and I cannot express the wealth of knowledge and readiness she gained for what was coming next. The philosophy of learning through play has played a huge role in making each classroom, and the center as a whole, a strong community of people who are doing what is best for kids. .

Cornerstone is not a place to work for me, it is Family! I have made life long friendships and connections with families that are priceless. Living life through the eyes of children makes me appreciate the small things and every moment in life. Watching these kiddos meet milestones and develop bonds with one another is my favorite part of teaching. I love being a part of this community.

Emily, Cornerstone teacher since 2006

“The most valuable resource that all teachers have are each other. Without collaboration our growth is limited to our own perspectives.”

— Robert John Meehan
